Newly built houses
need inspections, too
By Holden

Home
inspection isn't just for buyers of old houses. Some buyers of newly
built homes get inspections, too.
The bread
and butter of the inspection business
remains the examination of houses that have been lived in. The
inspection report then is a narrative of an aging house: leaky roof,
crumbling mortar in the chimney, wheezy furnace, and so on. In
contrast, the inspector of a newly built home focuses on finding the
inevitable errors and omissions that occur during months of
construction by laborers of varying experience and language.

The
U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development recommends that home buyers arrange for a home
inspection from a qualified inspector before finalizing the purchase of
a new home. Although home inspections are not usually required in order
to obtain mortgage financing, they are a worthwhile investment for
prospective buyers.....

Those of you that are shopping for a Houston home inspector, please
take a moment
to consider this. The average home inspection in the Houston area now
costs around $350.00. I get many calls from price shoppers that are
trying to find the cheapest price. They are about to invest $175,000 in
a home purchase, and they are trying to save $50 on their home
inspection.
No one should throw money away, and if I were buying a toaster, I'd
rather spend $20 than $50 any day. But when it comes to Houston home
inspectors, the
old adage "You
get what
you pay for"
is very true. While my prices are not the lowest in the Houston area,
they are
not the highest either. However, my Home Inspection report is extremely
thorough, very
readable and very educational, with photos and illustrations to help
make the information more understandable.
Please stop by my Fee Schedule page and check out my prices, but also
rummage through the rest of my site and consider how important this
home inspection report is to your investment and to your families
safety. You can't really put a price on that.
As a Member of the Board and as the Director of Technology for Champions Inspector
Association,
an organization of Houston area Home Inspectors, I feel fully qualified
to inspect your home with accuracy and
thoroughness.
I am certain that you will be pleased with my work. If you are not,
after the walk-through, you owe me NOTHING!

A
home inspection
is a limited,
non-invasive examination of the condition of a home, often in
connection with the sale of that home. This is carried out by a home
inspector, who usually has the training and certifications to carry out
such inspections. Often using home inspection software a report is then
issued. The home inspector states the condition of the home at the time
of inspection but does not guarantee future condition, efficiency or
life expectancy of systems or components.
An inspector will check the roof, basement, heating system, water heater,
air-conditioning
system,
structure, plumbing, electrical,
and many other aspects of buildings
